Gemini’s flawed AI racial images seen as warning of tech titans’ power

AUSTIN, March 17 — For people at the trend-setting tech festival here, the scandal that erupted after Google’s Gemini chatbot cranked out images of Black and Asian Nazi soldiers was seen as a warning about the power artificial intelligence could give tech titans.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai last month slammed as “completely unacceptable” errors by his company’s Gemini AI app, after gaffes such as the images of ethnically diverse Nazi troops forced it to temporarily stop users from creating pictures of people.

Social media users mocked and criticized Google for the historically inaccurate images, like those showing a female black US senator from the 1800s — when the first such senator was not elected until 1992.

“We definitely messed up on the image generation,” Google co-founder Sergey Brin said at a recent AI “hackathon,” adding that the company should have tested Gemini more thoroughly.

Folks interviewed at the popular South by Southwest arts and tech festival in Austin said the Gemini stumble highlights the inordinate power a handful of companies have over the artificial intelligence platforms that are poised to change the way people live and work.

8 Gadgets That Every Golfer Needs

Since the turn of the century, the new equipment introduced to the game of golf has been overwhelming.

Through the advent of rangefinders and other neat gadgets, attempting to produce lower scores on the course has seemed easier than ever before.

There are a select few gadgets that are deemed essential when playing golf – and we’ll provide information on them below.

Rangefinders

Distance measuring devices – such as rangefinders and watches – have become essential kit for recreational golfers. It is vital that you know how far you are from your target, which is something a rangefinder can produce in just seconds. The traditional way of relying on yardage markers will never truly capture pinpoint information, and it is highly recommended that everyone plays with some kind of GPS or laser device.

Rangefinder

GPS Watches

Whether you game a watch or a rangefinder matters not, as they both effectively do the same job. Watches are more convenient however, as they can be attached to the wrist and then seem to be forgotten about as the round progresses. In recent years, both rangefinders and watches have been drastically improved – golfers will be really pleased with the modern versions.

APC groups asks Tinubu to use Russian gadgets to locate kidnapped pupils

Its Director-General, Prof. Kailani Muhammadgave the advice in Abuja on Friday at the Breaking of Fasting aimed at bringing Nigerians together irrespective of their religions or tribes to become more united.

On March 7, 2024, the gunmen kidnapped 287 students and teachers from the LEA Primary School and the Government Secondary School, Kuriga, Kaduna State as well as others in Sokoto State.

The schoolchildren were abducted by the hoodlums who took them into the forests.

Muhammad emphasized the importance of the latest sophisticated electronic gadgets to be able to identify where these pupils and guns were located.

“We should use the latest sophisticated electronic gadgets to be able to identify where these pupils and bandits are.

“The latest one now is from Russia, we want him (Tinubu) to adopt it. There are vehicles now Russia built. They will send these vehicles into the forests and bushes, the vehicles will release smoke and the smoke can travel from Abuja to Kano.

“Once you are in the forest and you inhale it, you will sleep for three days. It won’t kill you, it won’t harm you.

“If we can bring such vehicles to Nigeria, they will help in getting these pupils
