In the aftermath of the 2021 storms the Red Hill Fire Brigade worked with local agencies and residents to create the Hill and Ridge Emergency Network.

The Network has been meeting regularly since October 2023 and brings together community groups, business owners, educators, agency representatives and local emergency services to improve community knowledge and skills to prepare and respond to disaster events.

Red Hill Fire Brigade Captain Sam Norris said the area was impacted by a major storm in October 2021.

“We lost power and all communications for between four and seven days. People couldn’t call Triple Zero and so the brigade and all the locals banded together,” Samuel said.

“We cleared roads and made access for emergency services to get into Red Hill. The community did a great job but there were gaps in the initial response that we thought this network could fix. That was the trigger point for it.

“In the last event, we had a woman who just had twins who were under a week old and she was stuck in her house for five days with no power. We also had a few elderly

Philip Daffas: Thank you, Peter. Lovely to be here again.

Peter Milios: Philip, to start, could you give us some context about PainChek for those who may not be acquainted with the company?

Philip Daffas: Certainly, and apparently, to bring it back to basics, pain assessment, as we all know, is very difficult to do, but it’s very difficult to do, especially for those who can’t reliably verbalize their pain. That includes people, one extreme, elderly people living with dementia and cognitive impairment who have lost those communication skills. On the other extreme, very young children who are pre-verbal who haven’t built those skills. PainChek specializes in building tools, medical devices, in the form of an app that actually provides a pain assessment technology to assess pain for those vulnerable people and therefore to improve the medication for them

Senate sends surrogacy bills to Whitmer for signature

Bills on their way to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s desk would repeal Michigan’s ban on surrogate parenting contracts.

Michigan was among the vanguard of states to outlaw paid surrogacy agreements with a 1988 law and is now among a small group of states that continue to do so.

Sen. Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit), one of the bill sponsors, said Michigan should join the majority of states that allow and regulate surrogacy contracts.

Senator Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit) is one of the sponsors of legislation to legalize surrogacy contracts in Michigan.

“It’s time to update our laws in Michigan and bring them in line with modern technology and practices as well as our compassion for families of all types, ensuring that Michiganders can fulfill their dreams of parenthood,” she said. “These bills not only safeguard the rights of biological parents but also prioritize the protection and the reproductive freedom of those surrogates.”

The bills allow for compensation for carrying a pregnancy and expenses such as insurance and housing. Surrogates would have to be at least 21 years old and undergo a mental health screening.

The bills were adopted on mostly party-line voters with Democrats in support and

Fox News Remains Most-Watched News Network

This is TVNewser’s basic cable network ranker and cable news report for the week of March 11, 2024.

It was a return to Earth for the cable news networks as the huge numbers they enjoyed during the busy news week of March 4, which featured two political-heavy events were nowhere to be found. That week contained coverage of Super Tuesday and President Joe Biden‘s State of the Union address. Fox News, as usual, led the cable news networks, but each of them including MSNBC and CNN, saw double-digit drops in both measured categories (total viewers and Adults 25-54) and in both dayparts (primetime and total day).

NETWORKS:

Nielsen live plus same-day data for the week of March 11 saw FNC average 2,056 million total viewers and 222,000 A25-54 viewers during primetime. The network was down in total viewers by -21% and -37% in the A25-54 demo, relative to the week prior (week beginning March 4).

In total day viewing, Fox News averaged 1,256 million total viewers and 147,000 A25-54 viewers. This translated to declines of -14% in total viewers and -23% in A25-54 from what Fox News averaged in those measurements the week prior.

Among all basic cable networks,

DHAKA – Exemplary action must be taken against Sharif, administration of Sirajganj Medical College

In an incident that seems stranger than fiction, Raihan Sharif, a teacher of Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College in Sirajganj, reportedly shot a third-year student in the leg during a viva exam. While the student, Arafat Amin Tamal, was miraculously spared his life as the bullet first hit the mobile phone in his pant pocket, the fact remains that a teacher had the audacity to open fire on his student. According to witnesses, not only did he injure Tamal, but he also threatened to shoot the victim’s friend, who wanted to take him to the emergency unit for treatment. The details of the incident are beyond horrifying.

What’s even more shocking is that Sharif is known to wave around his gun regularly during class hours, threatening students from time to time and harassing them in various ways. Some students also claimed that he would make video calls to female students at night, make untoward proposals, and issue threats if they refused to comply.

We are glad to note that Sharif has been arrested and placed on remand, partly thanks to the students

ITS Abmas Team during the handover and licensing of antenna installation repeaters And omnidirectional in Ketuwon Village, Pasuruan

ITS Campus, ITS News As time goes by, internet access has become a person’s basic need in everyday life. To expand internet reach in Indonesia, the Community Service Team (Abmas) Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) built an internet network transmitter in Ketuwon Village, Pasuruan, Wednesday (15/11).

The Student Coordinator of the ITS Abmas team, Jona Meivan Frendo Saragih said that currently several areas in Indonesia still do not have good internet access, one of which is Ketuwon Village, Pasuruan Regency. This area becomes one of the zones blind spots internet because the internet signal cannot reach the Bromo mountain area.

Based on this problem, this team implemented an internet network retransmitter or repeaters to expand and strengthen signal connections in the area. Antenna repeaters installed will catch the signal from Base Transceiver Station (BTS) or signal transmitting center. From there, the captured signal will be transmitted back to the antenna omnidirectional which can expand the reach of the internet around.
