Duplo partners Wema Bank to automate ALAT business operations

Nigeria’s Duplo has partnered with Wema Bank to automate financial operations for business customers using the ALAT platform, aiming to move companies beyond basic transactional banking into a more structured financial operating system.

The collaboration enables businesses to manage expenses and approvals, generate and collect invoices, and control financial workflows within a single integrated ecosystem. Businesses using ALAT by Wema Bank will gain access to tools including local and international payments, expense management, vendor payment automation, real-time financial reporting, and workflow controls powered by Duplo.

Duplo acts as a financial operating system designed for African businesses. It allows companies to move money, hold funds securely, issue compliant invoices, and automate tax-critical workflows on a single platform. This integration helps organizations move away from fragmented systems that slow decision-making and create unnecessary operational risks.

Existing ALAT business customers will receive three months of complimentary access to the platform, allowing them to experience the automation capabilities at no additional cost. The partnership creates a unified environment where financial management happens in real time, giving companies greater visibility over their cash flow.

Many organizations still struggle to manage payments and reconciliation across different systems, which complicates daily operations. By embedding Duplo’s tools directly into the ALAT interface, the partnership addresses this friction. The system handles the heavy lifting of financial administration, freeing up resources for core business activities.

This move reflects a broader trend in the Nigerian fintech sector, where digital banking solutions increasingly integrate backend financial operations to provide a more seamless experience for corporate clients. The ability to control financial workflows from a single dashboard represents a significant step forward for business banking in the region.

Management Perspective

Yele Oyekola, CEO and co-founder at Duplo, said the goal is to help businesses run their financial operations with greater clarity and control. He noted that partnering with Wema Bank allows the company to deliver that experience within a platform business already trusted by users.

“By embedding our platform within ALAT, we aim to make it easier for companies to manage finances in real time,” Oyekola said.

Wema Bank has been a pioneer in digital finance for years. The ALAT platform serves millions of individual users and has now expanded to offer robust tools for corporate entities. This expansion addresses the specific needs of larger enterprises that require more than simple transfers.

Oyekola believes that structured financial systems are essential for growth. He stated that the integration provides a clear path for businesses to organize their finances systematically. The partnership brings together Wema Bank’s reach with Duplo’s specialized technology to serve the corporate market.

Cybersecurity-as-a-Service considerations are also relevant as companies centralize their financial data. The platform’s focus on secure workflows helps mitigate risks associated with managing sensitive corporate funds online.
