Following the likes of M-Tron Pro, Oddity and Minimonsta, GForce Software’s Virtual String Machine puts on its glad rags and is brought up to date with a new UI and other features.

Some might argue that string machines were the first commercially successful types of polyphonic synths. For a while, it seemed that every manufacturer made some kind of string synth. And GForce Software’s VSM is a testament to those unique, if somewhat limited, devices.

May The Forth Be With You

Now in its fourth iteration, VSM has given the full wardrobe and make-up redo that GForce has consistently brought to its portfolio. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, this is most welcome in a world of large computer monitors.

Everything is now much clearer and easy to identify. The

Greater Cambridge Shared Planning secures funding for digital software to improve planning processes

The Greater Cambridge Shared Planning logo along with the text 'We have been awarded funding for digital software to improve planning processes'. The graphic also says 'Funded by UK Government'

Greater Cambridge Shared Planning has secured £100,000 of funding from the Department of Leveling Up, Homes and Communities (DLUHC) in the latest Digital Planning Improvement round.

This financial boost represents a significant step forward for Greater Cambridge Shared Planning (GCSP), which is a partnership between South Cambridgeshire and Cambridge City Councils, in its journey towards embracing digital transformation to improve planning services for residents.

The funding will enhance GCSP’s digital capabilities and development management software, facilitating smoother operations and better integration of planning data. These upgrades will make planning processes faster and more efficient, which will directly benefit residents and developers. Moreover, it will enable GCSP to prepare for upcoming legislation, ensuring compliance and readiness for future regulatory changes.

Cllr Katie Thornburrow, Executive Councilor for Planning, Building Control and Infrastructure at Cambridge City Council said: “We’re committed to the continuing transformation of our planning processes and to giving our teams the best tools as they work hard to offer residents and developers a streamlined and efficient service. This excellent bid will support our existing efforts to understand where and how AI and other digital technologies can be used within the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Service to go even further, always

Galaxy A35 gets a software update less than a week after launch

The Galaxy A35, along with the Galaxy A55, is the first mid-range Samsung phone that runs Android 14 and One UI 6.1 out of the box. It is eligible for four major OS upgrades and security updates for five years, and software support for the phone is off to a good start.

The Galaxy A35 was announced and went on sale in some markets on Monday, March 11, and just three days later, it is already getting its first software update. It’s unclear how widely it is available, however. As of March 14, we can only confirm that it has been released in India.

The update comes with the firmware version A356XXU1AXBB, and while it’s not just a security update, we don’t know what it brings to the phone as the changelog doesn’t include any specifics. But we can assume that the update doesn’t do much, as it is only around 270MB in size.

It even lacks the March 2024 security patch. The A35 launched with the February security patch preinstalled, and that won’t change once the update in question has been installed on the phone.

Since the Galaxy A35 launched less than a week ago, there probably aren’t a
